4D the product

4D the product is an integrated application development environment originally fashioned after the 4GL paradigm. It was introduced in the US in 1987.

There are currently several variations of 4D the product:

• 4th Dimension
• 4D Server
• 4D Client
• 4D Runtime Interpreted, formerly known as 4D Runtime
• 4D Runtime Single User, formerly known as 4D Runtime Classic
• 4D Runtime Volume License, formerly known as 4D Engine

There have been a few older variations of 4D the product, no longer published:

• Silver Surfer
• FileForce
• 4D First
